Breezehome

Buy it for 5,000 gold from Proventus Avenicci, the steward in Dragonsreach, Whiterun. It goes on sale once Jarl Balgruuf counts you a close friend, which happens in Dragon Rising when he sends you with Irileth to deal with the dragon at the watchtower. If the Stormcloaks take Whiterun, Vignar Gray-Mane counts you a friend as he takes the seat, and the steward sells it then too.
