Quick steps
- Press Insert in game to open IED. GTS sets this key; if it does nothing, you may have changed it, and it won't open while a paused menu is up.
- Find the name in the lists below. It tells you which list and which tab to use, because that's where people get stuck: not everything is in the same place.
- Open the entry, tick Disabled, then do the same in each override listed beside its name, under Equipment overrides.
- The change shows straight away. If it doesn't, use Actions > Evaluate all.
Where to look
- Everything here is in one window: View > Display manager on IED's main menu. That window has its own View menu, which switches between two lists.
- Custom items holds extras: potions, purses, quest items, carcasses, instruments, lanterns.
- Equipment slots holds your own weapons, shield, quiver and torch when they're on your body but not in your hands.
- Each list has four tabs: Race, NPC, Actor and Global. Global has a choice of Player or NPC at the top; leave it on Player for yourself.
- To use the Actor tab for yourself, pick the player from its list (ID
00000014). - Your character has a Male and a Female copy of each entry. Change the one that matches your character, or tick Sync beside them to change both.
Why you have to tick more than one box
- An override is a rule like "if you're wearing a backpack, put it here instead". When its rule fits, IED uses the override's settings and doesn't look at the main entry's.
- So an item you've only disabled at the top comes straight back once an override fits, like when you put on a backpack. That's what the second column is for.
- Overrides that already hide the item, such as
No BodyorDisable no armor, are left out of the lists: you don't need to touch them.

Your weapons, shield and quiver
In the Display manager, choose View > Equipment slots. Most slots are on the Global tab, but a few have your own copy on another tab, and that copy is the one that counts: the game checks Actor, then NPC, then Race, then Global. "NPC" here still means you: pick the player's record there (00000007).
Left means the item in your left hand. These only hide what's stowed on your body; what's in your hands stays.

On other people
- To take IED's weapons and shields off everyone else, open Tools > Settings and tick Disable NPC equipment displays.
- To change their slots one by one, use Equipment slots in the Display manager, then Global, set to NPC.
- Look at someone before opening IED and the Actor tabs select them for you.
Hiding everything at once
In Tools > Settings, set Player gear toggle keys. That key then hides or shows all of IED's gear on you, for screenshots for example. GTS leaves it unset.
The lantern key
Lights On's lantern also has a key of its own: LOn_Hotkey, in View > Key bindings on the main menu. GTS sets it to L.
Keeping your changes
- Your changes are stored with your save, so they carry on in later saves of that character but not into a new game.
- To start every new game with them, use File > Default config > Export. This writes over GTS's own user setup file, so a GTS update can replace it again.
- To undo everything in the current save, use File > Default config > Import and choose Default for GTS's setup. This puts back every entry, not just the one you changed.
If it isn't on these lists
A backpack, cloak or anything else worn as armour isn't placed by IED, so ticking boxes here won't remove it. Take it off instead. An item from an add-on or your own mods may add entries of its own, which won't be listed here: this page is base GTS only.
Names and starting settings read from GTS's own IED setup: 31 items under Global, 48 under your own character and 44 on horses, plus the 19 equipment slots. The menu steps were worked out from IED's files rather than played through.
